  • Woodlawn Needlework Show, Largest Judged Needlework Show in the Nation, Celebrates Golden Anniversary of Volunteer Corps | March 1 – 31, 2025
    Since 1963, Woodlawn has hosted the largest judged show of needle arts in the nation with hundreds of embroidery pieces on display from artists from all over the world. This year celebrates the 50th anniversary of Nelly’s Needlers, an all-volunteer corps who have contributed to the preservation of the site through the pursuit of fine needle art.

  • New Exhibits at Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House Tell the Fuller Story of Woodlawn’s Past and Honor the Local Indigenous Legacy | April 15, 2024

    On April 25, Woodlawn a historic house in Fairfax County, Virginia, which was originally part of George Washington’s Mount Vernon, will open two new exhibits: Woodlawn: People and Perspectives and Offerings for Tauxenent: Acknowledging Indigenous Place. Both exhibits are the work of research and collaboration with community partners, including descendants, to meaningfully reinterpret the site.

    On June 8, Pope-Leighey House, a historic house museum in Fairfax County, Virginia, and the only Frank Lloyd Wright designed home open to the public in the Washington, D.C. region, will host a birthday celebration for the famed American architect.
